I recently started some projects in my house so I thought I would join in the parties this week.
Gina at The Shabby Chic Cottage is doing Transformation Thursday and Kimba at a Soft Place to Land is doing DIY Thursday. Go check them both out for more great ideas.
Let me preface this by saying we have lived in our house for 5 years....and for 5 years, I have not liked hated our light fixtures. Thankfully, I recently was introduced to my new favorite spray paint, Oil Rubbed Bronze by Rust-oleum so decided to try it on my fixtures. I have to say that I LOVE this paint! I know you've seen it all over blogland.
Here is my dining room fixture before.....
(and notice the change in table scape. :) )
A close up....
This fixture I REALLY dislikedhated. Most of the fixtures are this 'patina green' (is that what you call it--I do). I am not really a great person and our house is not really a 'green' house if that makes sense. You can see most of our downstairs here to see what I mean.

This fixture I REALLY disliked
I was so excited to change this fixture, I didn't get a shot of it up but here it is before paint, disassembled.
And here it is after paint and reassembled.
Another view.

I am repainting all of my fixtures inside and out because can you believe they put these on the OUTSIDE too!? ugh.
Thanks for stopping in....and do tell me what you think of the changes. Have you tried Oil Rubbed Bronze and love it too!?!**we ran out mid-project and couldn't find it anywhere in town. I panicked. But, found it at a nearby Lowe's. Bought all they had. Whew.**

I REALLY like both of those "after" pics, Reid. You're right, that green was horrendous. I think it goes without saying that it looks much better now. LOL! But I really like the dining room fixture MUCH better now, too. Great job! :)
I actually bought a new fixture in my bathroom in oil rubbed bronze before I figured out that I could have painted the old one *oops* but you can bet that's what I'm going to do with the rest of mine. And yours look fabulous!
I love this. I need to do this to all my light ixtures too. We have either 1)builder yucky lights, or 2) $5 Goodwill fillins. With a little spray paint I think they would all be fine.
Can you tell me, does your paint "oil rubbed bronze" have a more gray dimension to it or brown. I need a more brown undertone. Yours looks more gray in the picture but it could just be the lighting. I like yours.
You made the dining room fixture look like a much pricier piece! It's beautiful!
looks great! amazing what a little bit of paint can do.
Great makeover! I am almost ashamed to say that I like both the before and after of the green one... sorry!
Thanks for linking up with me today!
You made that look so easy. Your fixtures look brand new...what an incredible makeover!
Oh yes...much better black! I especially like your dining room one...beautiful!
I absolutely hate my dining room fixture. Totally trying this. Thanks!!
These look great! I have some brassy fixtures I might try this on.
